Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that most people have heard of, but don’t really know much about. The procedure makes way for a new, smoother and clearer skin to replace the skin that’s been exfoliated.
Microdermabrasion is a facial procedure that uses manual exfoliation to remove the outer layer of skin. This procedure works in a series to achieve the best results. We use a diamond tipped wand to abrade the surface of your skin. The procedure is always followed by the application of serums and corrective products. It works best on problems such as dull skin, brown spots, and age spots. It also works well on:
- Enlarged Pores
- Clogged Pores
- Fine lines
- Mild Acne Scars
- Mild complexion problems such as uneven pigmentation or poor skin texture
LED Light Therapy
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, which is a computer chip encased in a glass-like resin, which emits therapeutic wavelengths (or colors) of light energy.
Not to be confused with laser, the light therapy was originally developed to fast-track the healing of wounds and post surgery scars. The rejuvenation of healthy skin, too, was a happy coincidence.
Almost every Classic European Facial follows the same basic steps. First, you’ll have a quick consultation to discuss your skin concerns and your usual maintenance routine, then the aesthetician will cleanse your skin to analyze your skin type and devise a customized treatment. Generally, next comes steaming to help soften up any pore-clogging congestion, followed by exfoliation, extractions, massage, a mask, and finally, an application of SPF.
Besides the quick pinches from extractions, which involves using a small amount of pressure or a stainless steel extractor tool to remove trapped sebum and blackheads, you’re likely to drift off to dreamland throughout the treatment.
A microCurrent facial is often referred to as a “natural” facelift. This safe and painless facial helps erase fine lines and wrinkles, while firming your skin and defining your features. It improves muscle tone, reduces puffiness, increases cellular activity, and tightens pores. The overall result is a healthier and younger looking skin, no matter your age.
A MicroCurrent Facial emits extremely low-voltage electrical currents (hence ‘micro’ current), which mirror your own body’s electrical currents, on a cellular level to repair damaged skin and stimulate collagen and elastin production. The intensity is so slight that it would take one million MicroCurrent machines to light a 40-watt light bulb. This treatment is often referred to as “facial toning” because it’s like a workout for your face, whereby skin cells are broken down and then grow back stronger, the same way your muscles do after lifting weights. It works simultaneously to repair collagen in the dermis, the deepest layer of your skin, while gently erasing signs of aging in the epidermis, the top layer of your skin. According to studies, a series of MicroCurrent facial can increase collagen production up to 14%, elastin increases 48% and blood circulation goes up 38%.
Luxury Facial / AlphaHydroxy Peels
AHA or alpha hydroxy Acids are natural substances found in many plant extracts. The women of the French court found that the grapes they were stomping to make wine, when put on their face, improved their skin. The most common AHA is glycolic acid, a smaller molecule found in sugar cane. Being small, it is well absorbed. In addition to glycoloic acid, other AHA such as lactic, salicylic or gentle enzymes, promotes the skin to be more regular in its inevitable growth progression from the bottom layers to the top. Connections (desmosomes) to other cells are strengthened. Deeper in the dermis, collagen is stimulated. The end result is a smoother, more youthful skin, with more luster and less pigmentation.
Radio Frequency Treatments
Radio-frequency works by heating the skin.
Heat is the key.
It turns out that if you heat collagen to a very specific temperature, two things happen. Firstly, the existing collagen fibers tighten. Secondly, the collagen producing cells within the area are triggered to produce more collagen.
The dermis, which is the second layer of skin, is full of collagen. Collagen also exists deeper in the fat layer within strands that weave between fat providing support for this layer.
Upon heating collagen, skin tightens because of immediate collagen fiber contraction and, also, from delayed new collagen formation.
MicroNeedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. MicroNeedling may also be combined with a topical treatment, like a AHA peel or another vitamin-rich serum.
Dermaplaning eliminates that annoying peach fuzz that cakes up in makeup and can be enhanced by harsh lighting. Dermaplaning removes all the dead skin cells and also the (vellus) facial hair, leaving the surface very smooth. Dermaplaning also allows for greater penetration of skincare products and creates a flawless canvas for makeup to glide on smoothly. In fact, cosmetic dermatologists often use Dermaplaning to help prepare skin for more intrusive procedures such as laser treatments and chemical peels.
